History

In a chinese set of Mahjong tiles there are 144 tiles, i will go throungh these

 

 

This is the stick (bamboo) suit, of the nine numbered tiles in the set only number one is a bird (sparrow or eagle).

There are four of each of these tiles.

 

This is the circle (armor, shield) suit, these are also numbered 1 - 9.

There are four of each of these tiles.

 

This is the charector suit, these are numbers 1 - 9 in chinese symbols.

There are four of each of these tiles.

 

This is the wind suit, they represent the directions, east, south, west and north, and ussually come in this order.

(West/South/East/North)

There are four of each of these tiles.

 

This is the dragon set, the symbols represent a red dragon, a green dragon and the border on a blank tile is the white dragon.

(Red/Green/White)

There are four of each of these tiles.

 

This is the flowers set, a plum, an orchid, a chrysanthemum and bamboo.

(Plum/Orchid/Chrysanthemum/Bamboo)

There are two of each of these tiles.

 

Finnaly, this is the seasons set, representing winter, spring, summer and autumn, these are not in a regular set of chinese Mahjong tiles but many other contries use them.

(Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer)

There are one or two of each of these tiles depending opn the contry.
